Default Super Strike Charters--Venice, La.

Venice, La. Offshore Fishing Report—Super Strike Charters-6/17/2015.

The offshore fishing has been very good for the first couple of weeks of June. Of course Red Snapper have been very easy to catch so we have been catching a limit of snapper in between Tuna and Mahi Mahi fishing just about each trip out. The tuna fishing has been very good lately as compared to May. Some years May is the better month between the two, so, looks like this year it is June. We had some unusually windy weather over the past several days which has kept us from getting out, but today we have all the boats running offshore and inshore, the weather forecast looks great for as far as I can see, so there are going to be some very good catches brought in over the next two weeks. What we are mainly targeting right now is Yellow fin Tuna, they can be tricky this time of the year and some patience will be required, but if you stick it out and you are there when they turn on, your trip can go from 1 tuna to 9 tuna real quick. Most will be in the 60-80lb. range with several going over the 100lb. mark throughout a week of fishing. While waiting for the tuna to bite the mahi mahi have been biting good so that makes up for some of wait time for tuna if you need it. Around the rigs it is just about effortless to get on top of the snapper, red and mangrove snapper right now are abundant and have been producing a lot of action. The Cobia have shown up, and just about every snapper trip out we have caught several cobia and grouper to go along with the catch. We aren’t targeting cobia specifically yet, probably more towards mid-July but they are here at the deeper platforms. Snapper season is open in federal waters for federally permitted charter boats this year until July 15th. We still have several days still open in June and quite a few in July. Lodging is available also.
