Default Fishing Venice, La.--Super Strike Charters

Venice, La. Offshore Fishing Report—Super Strike Charters-7/14/2015.

Since our report last week the fishing has still been very good. The tuna have shown up in most areas. Just about every trip we have had in the last couple of weeks has resulted in at least 1 or 2 YFT going over 100lbs. or just under. However, the avg. size right now is about 40-50lbs., which is perfect size for most customers. The bigger fish have been tough to get in resulted in a few pulled hooks and broken line. There has been a fairly strong current right where the thermocline starts at about 80ft., (sounder pic attached) and when they turn sideways in that current it feels like the fishes weight doubles to the angler on the rod. Capt. Scott was asked for assistance in getting a YFT in last week by another boat that was fishing next to them, the Captain of the other boat, nor the anglers were able to get the fish up after 2 hrs. and 45 minutes, they were whipped, so Scott put his deckhand Barrett on the boat with them and he was able to get this fish up and in. The fished weighed in at 130lbs. That is not usually the norm for a fish that size, but like I said the bigger ones use that current and makes it tougher than usual. So, it is a bit of trade off, if your catching the bigger ones, you catch fewer fish, if you catching the smaller ones you catch more fish, so it works out good either way. As we move into late July and especially August the Tuna fishing will only get better, the avg. size will probably be around 70-80lbs. towards the end of Aug. if it goes as usual. They have been feeding on just about anything you use including livies, chum, and artificial, so you will have to change up techniques from day to day, sometimes hour to hour. The mahi mahi have really shown up this year as well and we will probably catch them thru the end of July, they usually start to thin out in August. Cobia and Amberjack (opens Aug. 1) will be plentiful over the next several months so with Tuna, Amberjack, and Cobia as the main targets the anglers are going to worn out most days. We still have some opening left in July and August so if you want to get that trip in before the summers over now is the chance. Lodging is available as well.

Fished with capt. Scott in March with supper strike and he was the best!!! Told him what we wanted and he was honest and told us what to expect as to what was being cought and made a great catching day for us!! Can't say enuegh how how much fun we had. And the house boat they rent is worth twice what they charge it is nice, (not what we was expecting) 100x better!! Can't wait till our next trip with them!!!
