This is bittersweet being a musician. I hate having the headaches, smelling like a$$ and the other cons of a smoke filled bar...But you WILL lose a crowd to no smoking...At least somewhat. Luna Live does well with the rule, and the bar tends to stay full through a show. I am interested to see where this goes. Would not mind losing that smell from a night out!

Yeah i can see where it MAY hurt the crowds.. but if everywhere is forced to do it it may not. Other places like Baton Rouge, Houston dont allow smoking in bars or clubs

You are right...The crowd around this town tends to be thin anyhow...Especially when it comes to supporting local music that is not a cover band

Multiple bands....in liquid is the band I play with most. Sit in with CHOKE, Slim Harper, X-IT43, Trip Wamsley... All VERY different genres.

If you don't like smoking or smoke stay home!!! People smoke when they drink, gamble!! And spend more money cause they don't have to get up from a table game, or from the bar.
As a smoker I am polite about it, move or go outside. But at a hot table or a bar your on your own!!!!

There's way more crapp in the air in any "big city" to worry about smoking !!!!

I think it should be left up to the business owner. If the owner thinks allowing smoking in his establishment will help his income, he oughtta be able to allow it. If he thinks allowing smoking hurts his business he oughtta be able to ban it.

Here in Lafayette there is no smoking indoors. But the establishments provide outdoor areas for smokers. That's how it should be. Smoke outdoors not indoors. Non smokers can't get away from the smoke indoors so make smokers go outside. Then that way no business should be lost.

A local bar owner here in BR decided to go smoke free back in 2013 . he talked to all his customers and the big majority were all for it. He said he may have lost 2 -3 regular folks but the gains when the word got out that he was smoke free made it very worthwhile.

I used to love playing gigs in lafayette because of this...In lake charles I'd load my gear up and the next day my vehicle would smell like the bottom of an ashtray. What I noticed in lafayette is the smokers really didn't mind going outside for a few anyways.

I'm kind of in the fence on this one. I don't smoke and I hate going home smelling like an ashtray or people blowing their smoke in my face like its no big deal, but part of me agrees with Crab. It should be the business owner's decision.

one of the main reasons i dont go to casinos is because of the smoke. Some people may not go because they can't smoke but I think that lost business will be offset by nonsmokers going more.

dont be so willing to celebrate a business owner losing their right to run his business as he sees fit. Soon we'll be like New York city....one freedom at a time. I don't smoke and never did, but if a guy takes a chance with his money to start a business and determined he can make more with smokers, more power to him...that is called freedom, inalienable right...last time I checked that was still in the constitution.
