Jump on it!!! Even if you only get another 100k out if it, rebuild it!!! They don't make em like that anymore......don't pass it up, you will regret it!! I looked for one for many years......

My F-N-L has one with the same set up, he babies it and has aroun150,000 miles mostly making trips to the deer camp and pulling a big 5th wheel. He had a problem with a couple injectors at around 120,000 miles but it hasnt gave him any problems lately....... That's one of the best enginge transmission combos ever and that's the reason they are all over 10G's

JDM4x4 has one and its been good to him he should chime in on this soon enough, he'll shoot ya straight about any issues with his if any!

No doubt it is a good motor. I bought one new in 1995 and put 325,000 miles on it. Sold it to a guy at work about 5 yrs ago and he is still driving it. Just keep in mind that diesel is expensive and maintenance is too.

I saw a hot shot driver a while back that had 650,00 on his 7.3.

I beat the hell out of mine and it has 150000 on the overhaul. The only reason it was overhauled the previous owners son had it for a while and chipped it way up and just flat out burnt it up dogging it. It has 275000 on the truck and I have an old school Hypertech programmer set on tow and don't have trouble. Mine is a F-250 with 35s on it ,and I had it loaded with a 42 ft goose neck loaded going to mud fest with a Capri camper on front with tools in it, 79 F-350 with 44s, 4 fullsize fourwheelers, 1 kids fourwheeler, and 2 generators also about 60 gallons of extra gas. Still passed cars on I-49.
I'd just stay away from any diesel that has been chipped up or alot of mods done to it by a previous owner, some do it for fuel economy, some do it to see the black smoke fly!! Unless you know the trucks history stay away from chipped / programmed trucks. One more thing, don't plan on winning any races with it, but it will pull anything you hook up to it. |

i have a 200o with 260,000 mile and the company truck has 460,000 miles and they are rough miles. other than water pump and alternators, change the fluids. good luck.

I have a friend who is a hotshot driver that had one with over 800K miles.
Hurricane Rita took it out. He changed several clutches, hoses, belts and one radiator. His was a '95 single cab with a flat bed F-350. $10K sounds a lil high, I would look at NADA or KBB.com and see what they are worth. If you don't buy it, some farmer will. The new F-350 crew cabs are running around $60K. |

I had a '92 Dodge. It got 25 mpg on the highway and 22mpg in town. 17 mpg pulling a 20 ft. gooseneck full of cattle. That Cummins back then was a great engine.
But the truck started falling apart around 4 years old. And it was the loudest diesel in the entire world. Great engine, great transmission(manual) and rear end. Everything else was junk. I had to get rid of it at 166K miles cause after paying it off, I was spending just as much a month to keep it together as I was paying for the note on it. Paid $21K new and sold 4 years later and all I could get was $5K for it. It is still running today, but not legal to put on the road. Farmer that bought it uses it to move stuff around his place. Put a flat bed on it and putt putts with it. Can't kill the engine, but Dodge built terrible trucks. |

Ray. Nothing MOOG front end parts and a dash cover can't fix!! Both are a must with em!

I have owned several ford diesels as have my dad. My current truck is 01f250 180,000miles. Do not give 10,000 for that truck. U can get them for 4,000-6,000 all day long. Great truck but that year 7.3 did not have intercooler. It does not have the same upgrades that a stock 99-02 7.3 motor has. Thus they tend to not last as long as the newer 7.3's. Also they get horrible mpg. This is from expierence not opinion. Way to much for that many miles.

I have one of the '99 7.3's with over 200K miles on it.
It gets 19.5 mpg on every tank, when not pulling. It drops to around 14 or 15 mpg depending on the load weight. There were 2 '99 models, one in '98 and one in '99. They called them '99 and '99 1/2 models. Not sure what the difference is. I bought mine in April of '98. |

Mine is 2001 f250 long wheel base. 180,000. I got cold air intake. Superchip programed. And 5" straight exhaust from the turbo back. I get 535 miles to a tank of fuel. It holds 33 gallons. It runs like a animal. Only changed waterpump and that's it.

i have a 99 F 250 powerstroke and just turned 413000 miles three days ago,yeah i said 413000 lol..take care of it and its the best truck you will ever have trust me
