Default camping in cameron

I was thinking about taking the kids and the boat down to cameron and camping somewhere near the jetties.........a little crabbing and fishing and campfires at night. Anyone know if tent camping is allowed anywhere around the beach there?

I believe you can still camp all over Holly Beach...as long as there is a good breeze to keep the bugs at bay.

Actually went down there today. Plenty of breeze and quite a few people with tents set up down there.

There's also Rutherford beach on the east side of Cameron just south of Creole if you are on that side.

A few week ago I fished until dark in Tuners Bay and was planning to keep fishing a little longer, but when it got dark the mosquitoes attacked in force.

The sand on Rutherfords Beach is as white as it has ever been since Ike.
You have to drive "up" on to the beach from the black top road. Very clean
and the big shrimp were popping all over the beach. I wish I had a rod and
reel last time we went.
