Went up to my camp in St. Francisville for opening weekend of turkey season.

Opening morning I heard one gobbler but he didnt wanna cooperate. Went back to camp and took a break. Around 1:30 went sit in woods where i saw alot of sign. let out a few calls and 2 toms come running down the road straight at us. but there was a creek b/w us and they veered off and didnt cooperate. Went back to camp for a break. Went back out to another area i saw alot of sign about 4:30. as we walking through the woods we stumble on a big tom at 50 yds strutting through the woods. we lay down in middle of the road and i let out a few yelps he jumps creek towards us and i never see him again. In the meantime i look over my shoulder and there is another longbeard coming down the ridge behind me. we were out in the wide open and couldnt move. he comes within 30 yds and spots us and spooks. I couldnt get a shot.

So the next morning I decide to just take off straight to spot i Heard them last sat evenin since wind was blowing so hard. i let out a hoot and hear 3 gobblers. I sit down and start calling soft. they keep answering then one pops out, pitches the creek, and comes strutting right in. And i smoke him. 10 1/2 inch beard and 1 inch spurs. Not bad for terrible conditions.

Now im gonna try and get one on Sherbune for the lottery and this weekend.
