I didn't even know they had them. I was going with metal for 2 reasons. The warranty being 1 and where I am building there is not a tree for 200 yards so I know every storm we get I'll be repairing shingles.

The best metal roof on the market today is the standing seam metal roof. They have no exposed fasteners. You use little flathead screws (Pancake head) on a little flange area. The next sheet overlaps the screws. (You actually use a rubber mallet to snap them down). They are wind rated at 140 MPH .You see them on a lot of commercial bldgs. now. They are fairly pricey. Material cost probably $1.50 -$1.80 and about $2.00 labor.I was a roofing contractor for 20 years and the only thing I would put screw down on now may be a barn or out building. The average roof probably has 5-6000 penetrations and it only takes one improperly tourqued screw to deal you misery. You roof is not only cut up it is steep as hell. Great looking house though. I hope you have a pleasent experience while building.
