Default B.O.B trip this morning.

Went to the burn out bridge this morning. Had a guy at the launch try to tell me there hasn't been any bass out there since all the rain. I looked at him like he was crazy....anyway we proved him wrong. Kept 14 nice bass prolly caught 20 all together and missed several. All in all it was a good day on the Sabine.

Question..... I don't fresh water fish but I am curious. I hear of a lot of people bass fishing but don't know anyone that eats them. Are bass as good to eat as a bream or sacalait? Just never been to a fish fry and bass is the fish they are frying!

That's because they don't want to share the bass, bass are very good but most people don't catch enuff just to fry for a big group like they do with catfish.

Bass are very good eaters... Personally, I throw most if not all back as its more of a "sport fish" of sorts to me.... That said, I dont have a problem with people keeping them... (I kept two yesterday for fish taco's tonight !!!)

Now, like others said, Specks, Reds, and Catfish are great to keep as they are easier to catch greater numbers to fill your freezer...

I too am more of a sport fisherman. I NEVER keep anything over 3 pounds and only keep bass maybe 2-3 trips a year. I'm in 2 local bass clubs and really enjoy chasing them green critters!
