Hearing internal debate on Specks at LaWLF being discussed from 25 per day to between 10-15 for trout with possible restrictions on max size kept. Redfish from 5 to 3 per day with none over 33 inches also floated internally. Look for restrictions on other species as well flounder, white trout, tripletail, even croaker in the near future. Supposedly forage base (cocahoes, menhaden, etc) significantly declined in numbers in Eastern Louisiana from the oil spill along with the near loss of the 2010 spawn for many species.

Sadly I'm hearing the various internal state fisheries research projects funded by BP to study the impact on our fisheries (out of public purview due to BP litigation) is not good news for anglers across Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama. I've heard the spawning ratio "SPR" in some parts of the state have fallen to levels in the low single digits versus the optimal number of 18 SPR.

The funny part is reducing the redfish minimum size from 16" to 14". It's not like anybody has trouble filling out a limit of redfish now.

Gotta do what TX does. Kinda like when "we used to kill all of THEIR mottle ducks" so we had our limit reduced.

I have been in the military now for 17 years and most of that time has been spent in North Carolina. I have to tell you it is starting to look more and more like a Northern state with all the restrictions.

NC regulations:

Redfish - 1 per day slot limit is between 18" and 27"

Speckled Trout - Possession of spotted seatrout is currently prohibited by Proclamation FF-9-2014. The Fisheries Director intends to reopen the recreational fishery June 15, 2014.

White Trout - 1 per day min length 12"

Flounder - 6 per day min length 15"

I joined the CCA this year so that I can attend the banquets and see what they do. I remember as a kid all my uncles believed in the CCA and what they did.

no, that's the only part that does make sense, I would rather have a limit of 14"-15" reds in the ice chest then have any combination of over 16" because the smaller they are the better they taste.

why the hell they think we need to be just like texas is something they should be forced to explain and justify by scientific reasons.

so very very true, that's why I don't fish weekends (couldn't force me out there Friday-sun with a gun in your hand) but only because unlike many, I have that ability

well by joining CCA you gave money to people who love how restrictive your fishery is and will work extra hard to make it even more restrictive.

if CCA had their way ALL fishing would be catch and release only with single barbless hooks
