Default Anyone Know What Causes This?

I was out on Big Lake Friday afternoon and there was a strong falling tide and I noticed this line of foam that stretched from north to south as far as th eye could see. I was wondering if this is was caused by current or if someone may know what caused it.

basically, proteins in water are agitated by the moving water and makes the foam.

What got my attention as I was putting along was I saw some birds working along this line of foam so I stopped and trolled over to them and caught a few fish. There were some huge schools of lady fish and hard heads there also, so I eventually moved on. I saw more flocks working along that line as I traveled south. I didn't stop because I was trying to get to a certain spot to fish the tide or I would have stopped at those flocks also.

A few more serious, scientific, accurate, articulate, correct, etc answers would be nice lol. However the other answers have been amusing. And no im not going to ask "whats up dog"?.

pretty good answer here:

"basically, proteins in water are agitated by the moving water and makes the foam."

Something had to be agitating the water, maybe a school of fish
