Default New rod and reel

My wife asked me to take her fishing this weekend the only problem is on her last trip with me her reel broke. It was one of those combo spin cast reels from Academy. I was wondering what is a cheap combo that I could pick up to put her on some reds and the rod and reel hold up for a few years. Thanks

My wife uses the Daiwa closed face spinning reel and they work great and is about a $30.00 combo. Abu Garcia makes one as well and is around $40.00. If she can throw a baitcaster then anything H2O Express is a great deal with a unconditional warranty. IF you break it just bring it back. not sure how much you wanting to spend but there is usually the Lews American hero combo for 59.99 or 69.99 which is a great buy.

I would but the rod is one for a spin cast. And she really doesn't like the 808's

The Okuma TriO is acutally a decently spec'd spin cast that is a great value. I'd put it on that rod and let her go. It should last a couple years, maybe more. The other would be a Penn in the same class. The penn will outlast most everything.

Peen battle, I am not sure what they are going for right now but I have a couple I won and they are real smooth reels!
