I am well aware that it still has wood stringers in it.

first thing i'd do is get a hyd jack plate. tunnel boat without a jack plate is like playing basketball in house slippers.

Kinda what I was thinking. My step dad offered me one for free a couple years ago but I didn't take it because I figured I would eventually get a bigger boat. I need to see if he still has it.

Power Tech OFX4 or PFL4, contact PT directly ask for their opinion, then order from Olympic Proper online. Ships directly from power tech. You also have 30 days to return if needed. X2 on the hydraulic jackplate

i would think a 150 is underpowered for a 22ft fiberglass bayboat, but im no expert

I think rpm are about 5200 or a little more. Boat runs low 40's and gets on step very well. It is a light hull only rated for 175 hp. I figure with the tunnel it will not be fast top end no matter what but I was curious if a different prop would stop cavitation while turning or does it need a hydraulic jack plate instead of the manual one that is on it?

Contact Marcus at Power Tech props, they are out of Shreveport, A LOUSIANNA company! They know their stuff! and best of all they have a prop exchange program.
I am currently trying my second prop. The first one was good but I think I can do better. As long as you don't damage the prop, they will take it back and give you another one. call Marcus 318-688-1970 or 800-736-7767 Tel Him Marty at the airport sent you |

I have a Kenner 18' tunnel hull 115 Mercury CMC Hyd jackplate with a 23 pitch Laser II. Jackplate installed by dealer.
I run mid 40's and its right in the middle of the WOT RPM range. When I bought the boat it had an 18 pitch prop on it and it would hit the rev limiter at 3/4 throttle. Prop for tubing probably. I still have to tuck all the way down on hole shot or it will blow out and running the river you trim down on turns. Tunnel hulls are mean little SOB's. Docking one is a pain in the a@@. You have limited reverse because it washes underneath the tunnel. Oh, and it will let you know when you are trimmed up too high running the ship channel in some chop and current because you will feel the a@@ end fishtailing on you. Just trim down a bit. |

I know what you mean about the reverse being weak.
