Default 8-27 Storms and Reds

Woke up at crack of dawn to thunderstorms all over so went back to bed. Finally around noon we saw a break so said may just get wet. We got more than that. Tried to find trout but they just didn't want to bite and as soon as we found a couple storms run us off so targeted reds. Very first red of the day was my lifetime largest. It maxed out a 50 pound scale! I have a 44" 44 pound on wall and this one is way bigger. Not a pretty fish so decided not to mount this one and let it live another day. Caught it on 4600 amb with 14 pound big game and after weighing it wanted to get it back in water. Wish I'd got measurements though cause it could be close to big as they get. Won't know now lol. Caught and released 10-12 more reds and my buddy wanted a couple for the pit on half shell so boxed two along with a few trout. Fun day but we got 5-10 minutes from launch and that big storm came thru and made life miserable for over an hour hiding behind some trees cloise to bank anchored out standing under top trying to stay dry. We didn't! Anyway I'm not sure I want to go on planned trip tomorrow but I'll leave it up to them. I want to wait til Tuesday. I'm more of trout guy than reds but ones that don't go often will love getting on these reds. O when netted that big red it had a couple 10 inch sucker fish on it like the sharks do. That was first for me too. Cool day other than storm catching us at end.
