Usually insurance companies / employers allow for additions to plan outside of the annual enrollment for 3 reasons; marriage, birth of child and adoption.
Other then that changes can only b made during the open annual enrollment.
Most dental, vision insurance has waiting periods(6 ,12 & 24 months) for specific procedures; crowns, implants, fillings , cataract correction etc. but simple teeth cleaning / annual exam or eye exam / prescription lens should have no waiting periods.
I'm on blue cross and this is how my plan operates

W did U call ur company or BCBS??

You have to wait for open enrollment. That has been around long before anyone ever heard of Obama. There is usually an exemption to that for new births though.

What does this have to do with Obama? While I am no supporter this does not look like an Obama issue. We have to put of big kid pants on and take a little responsiblity for ourselfs. Most insurance has open enrollment periods. Outside that period you can not enroll. This has been standard for many many years. If we do not like the standard we must as a group standup and make them change their ways. One person can not do it alone. I am sure your company publishes this information every year. Now if there was loss of coverage then there are normally exceptons to teh enrollment times.

Yea, what ur talking about has been the rule for group health insurance since group health insurance was formed.

Call ur company W. they will help you, but I'm pretty sure that you only have 60-90 days to add a child after birth or adoption . Same with getting married.

That was the case when I added my wife.

According to my insurance guy, we're looking at an 80-116% increase on individuals! I can't wait to pay $1400/mo for a $3800 deductible!

It's a huge crock of crap. I work for a sheriffs office. The Louisiana Sheriffs Assoc gets bids on ins comps and decide on a policy for all sheriffs offices. The sheriff has the option to use someone else but you know they won't rock the good ole boy boat. Someone is getting some nice kick backs on that deal. I pay 703 a month for my wife and son and each one of us have a $500 deductible

Yeah but but just think how mad All those Obama supporters are going to be when they find out that they have to pay a 1% penalty on their taxes if they don't buy the affordable insurance.

Wait can somebody please get a calculator and let me know what 1% of nothing is?
