Ran over to Sabine river this mornin for a short trip. As soon as we got to the spot, we saw bass just blasting the fire out of some grass shrimp.. a real good sign!
The water had good visibility, so I started off chunkin a small buzzbait 'cause I didn't have a d.o.a.. Caught a small bass right away but they just didn't seem to want to chase it. I adjusted to the conditions by down-sizing my bait, lightening the color to match the shrimp and slowing it down. First cast with the splash-bait produced a chunky 2lb. bass and I knew I had made a good choice.
In the next 3 hours I caught 25 bass (about half were keepers) between 1/4lbs - 2 1/2lbs. Back for work at the tackle shop by noon!
Bass fishin is on fire right now on the Sabine, go get you sum!
