Default trailer question

It's time to replace my leaf springs & all axel mounting hardware on my trailer. I have a single axel for a 19 ft. boat. Ive been looking at some kits which include all harware, new hubs, seal, etc. for ~$175. Not sure what a shop would charge me to do this so i have not considered that option yet. My research has let me to look into converting to torsion axel. They can supposedly go much longer without maintenance, ride better, etc.
I'd like to hear from any of you that have either done the conversion yourself or brought it to a shop and how difficult it was to do and of course how much $$ did it cost..Thanks in advance for any info i can get on this
