Default Mixed bag near the Saltwater Barrier 8-25

Brother in law and I went on the calcasieu River today and had a pretty mixed bag. We kept 12 bass (threw back 10-15 more), 2 reds, 1 flounder, 1 sheepshead, 1 speck. Also caught lady fish and a gar but released those. All on crankbaits and plastics. Weather was nice after the front passed through. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1440561220.443766.jpg

Were you up or down stream of the barrier?

I am thinking of just putting in at Westlake and see what I can catch.

We launched above the barrier and fished above mostly. Look for moving water in the cuts. Saw a lot of fish chasing shad or shrimp, but lady fish and gar contributed to some of that. We fish in a 14' marsh boat so we can get into some shallow areas off the main channel also. I have done good fishing the edges from the lake up past the barrier and you never know what may hit. Also you could take a right before the barrier and fish that dead end along River Rd.
