I have a small Yetie (Roadie). Like it a lot. Quality ice chest.
I also have a 50 quart Yukon that I like also. Both are well made ice chests that should last a long time. If price is cheaper for the Yukon vs Yeti I would go with the Yukon. Beware that because of their quality both ice chests are heavy even when empty. Don't know much about K2 |

I have that Coleman and it holds ice great! The hardware on it is what doesn't compare to the expensive ice chest.

All I will say is that I have a yeti and I hate it. It is ridiculously heavy, mars up my boat, and doesn't hold ice any longer when used as a "real ice chest" - i.e. going in and out of it to get drinks. The only plus in my book is that it is indestructible and you can stand on it to fish.
I have been wanting to try K2's because of the local connection and if I get a new one, that will be it. |

I did not care for my yeti, not at that price point. I have several k2 coolers and they seem to be much lighter than the yeti but are still very well built.

Had the Coleman long before I saw the video and it holds extremely well. Hardware is the main thing like earlier stated.
I would buy more of them. I will be buying K2 now for the simple fact that they are local, I didnt know that! I'll gladly spend the dough for a BD cooler if its supporting the local fella. |

Here's the thing, u don't buy these boxes to save on ice expenses. Because you will never justify a 400$ cooler to save on ice. However you can justify it by the assumption that that $400 chest will outlast 10 $70 ice chest. So in that case buy the most durable. Yeti is more durable than k2. Both hold ice just as long give or take a couple hours. Only reason I put yeti above k2 is the latches. Seems like over time the k2 latches could be broken off

For the price you cant beat the coleman....I have a green 70qt extreme holds ice WAY better than igpoo. I also have a k2 55 cube that I use for drinks in the boat. Bad arse cooler. Got tired of using igloo and ice not lasting a whole fishing trip in the summer heat.

I have to agree with this statement. My K2 will hold ice just fine it is just me and the wife drinking out of it. Let 4 kids start opening it for juice and cokes and the ice doesn't stand a chance. I got mine hoping I wouldn't have to buy 2 or more ice chest a year like I was with the cheap WalMart ones. The cheap Wal Mart ones aren't even that cheap anymore. |

Dont forget to throw Engel in the mix...I have no problem keeping ice or fish in my cheap marine Igloo...Like others have said its the hardware that sucks...Fill up a 55qt igloo with a couple limits of fish and ice and then lift it up...those handles will come right off after a couple times doing that. The latch that holds the lid shut will break after a few fishing trips also...They do make steel hinges and latches to replace the cheapo ones but they are also pricey for cooler parts..
I'll keep using mine for now b/c its lightweight and its working for me right now...but I've been thinking about getting a k2..support local and have a cooler that matches the boat. Problem is weight for me though...maybe I should lose a few lbs to fix that ![]() |
