Hit JH yesterday afternoon, passed the cement dam, but intel from the "residents" there was zip, nada, nuttin shrimp or crabs. Went to the Mudhole, had the whole thing to myself.................me and hundreds of pounds of baitfish with a few shrimp mixed in. After about 20 casts, I had about 2 lbs of shrimp and while I had my crab nets out, the alligators were apparently more interested than the crabs, but I did manage to pick up about a dozen before Ali the alligator harassed me enuf till I had to pull the nets up.
Tried again this a.m., but same same on both the cement dam and the mud hole. Then one hell of a thunderstorm came up from the West and me and about seven other boats beat feet for the landing to avoid the thunder and lightning. BTW, got a little intel regarding LSU from a guy who is working there who I met up with on one of the weirs. He said it would be about 2-3 more months before they finish their work which he said, is being done for Ducks Unlimited. Didn't know DU did work on the refuge. Don't know if he is accurate, just saying what he said. Good luck to everyone else.
