I live in Maurice, less than 20 miles from the bay. I have driven to Big Lake the past two days due to the conditions in Vermilion Bay. I have not been there to document it myself, but it cannot be good. The river is still way too high.

I had a friend of a friend go to the cove yesterday with wife and kids. They caught 50 trout. He said that there were 50 boats in the cove. This is second hand info and I have been going to big lake. I did make a trip out to diamond reef 2 fridays ago and limited. The water was beautiful if u can believe that. I would rather go to Big Lake right now because I know that I'm going to catch fish there.

I stand corrected about the water at Cypremort Point. I talked to several people who have gone out to the cove and hammered the specks this week. They said the water was very good in the cove. I haven't heard anything about any other spots. The report is that there are between 50 and 75 boats at any given time fighting for the limited space in the cove. Good luck!

I have received similar reports. Earlier this week a two man limit was caught at the Hammock.
