Default Long-tailed Ducks

When I was out on BL last Saturday, I saw 2 long-tailed ducks (formerly called oldsquaw) and a bunch of common loons (not the ones with t-tops). Anyone else notice the oldsquaw out there? Are they common out there?

i noticed that the loons would just pop up their heads occasionally and dive back down. May be the new Big Lake techinique for fishing the birds? Yeah, no?

They are reported towards Grand Isle occasionally. I would like to get some pics of the oldsquaws to verify their occurence over in the west portion of the state. Pretty cool ducks

They are, but alot of people don't realize the amount of sea ducks that actually migrate here. When i guided for hackberry rod n gun club one morning i killed a white winged scoter in holly beach.

Where on the lake is it more likely to see the Long-Tailed Ducks or seaducks for that matter? These are some cool ducks.

Best,
Tom
