I was thinking the same thing , $149 shipped seems like a good price , if they hold up , 3 year warranty.

$149 for an Igloo but they complain about the cost of a Yeti?!

How much is a 120qt yeti? This is a great cooler for someone who needs a big cooler but doesn't have half a grand to spend on a cooler. It's even better if you simply take care of it. Not being smart or nothing just stating the obvious.

Exactly. I need a new larger ice chest, but I would have to kick my own @$$ for spending $500 on an ice chest. I just don't see the cost benefit for myself. It doesn't matter if it holds ice for a month. This ice chest is exactly what I'm looking for. As long as I take care of it, it should last well past $150.

If I can spend $150 why spend $500 just to put fish in , ice is cheap and this looks like a durable ice chest. I have been having some igloo's going on 7 years now , so I'm going to try one also.

Meh. I have a 85qt Yeti. I also shoot a nice shotgun, have a nice Bayboat, live in a big house and drive a nice truck. I guess that's a waste my money too? Buy what you want. It's your money. Good luck with it. Next year when you are buying another one I'll still be using the same Yeti I've had the last 2 years. And I'm sure it'll still look as nice then as it does now and keep ice the same as it does now. I'm just glad we live in a place where we have the choice to buy what we want.

We bought a half dozen Igloo 120 quart Marine ice chests around 2000 when we were ramping up our beef business. These ice chests saw hard use for 5-6 years picking up processed beef and delivering to sides of beef customers and bringing lots of individual cuts for sale at local farmers' markets. Then they saw hard use as fishing coolers, seats, and life vest/anchor/fire extinguisher storage on boats. They were also used as heavy duty shipping crates moving experimental materials and laboratory electronics around the country on numerous projects. From the looks of the advertisement, the newer model is just a later generation of the older 120 quart heavy duty Igloo Marine design.
These are tough ice chests, and we have not had one fail yet. I trust them as shipping containers for our most valuable and sensitive laboratory equipment, and I definitely trust them as fishing coolers. After over a decade, a couple of ours are showing some signs of wear and may be soon marked for lighter duty storage of less sensitive stuff. But with this long and hard of service, if I needed replacements, I would buy the same make and model. For comparison, we also bought a couple of smaller Coleman Extreme 40-60 qt coolers between 2004 and 2007. In spite of lighter usage, these are already approaching the end of their useful service, and will not remain in service as long as the 120 quart Igloo Marine coolers. The insulation on the Coleman Extreme coolers is better (they hold ice longer), but the handles and hinges and actual strength of the ice chest itself is lower. Coolers should be able to bear the load when filled with ice/water/fish/drinks/etc. |

For typical use for a sportfisherman.....Yeti coolers are overkill, IMO. I would never buy something that cost 3 x the price if I thought the lesser-priced one was sufficient for my needs.
