this is an amazing video....and one of my worst fears....these guys were extremely lucky and they had their heads together by staying with that ice chest...they could have provided food with the guns and even had a radio...if your gonna have to abandon ship thats the way to do it....

i think my worst fear about being offshore is when im diving under a rig in the legs im gonna come up to bring fish to the boat and no boats gonna be there....

definitely , i think i would have tried getting on top of the boat, but that's easier said than done. the ice chest worked great, still --these dudes made it cause they didn't panic and made it out to tell this story(and have VIDEO to prove)lol

once i would of realized that there was nothing you could do, i would of started throwing rods and reels into storage! I saw they didn't do that, but i guess you can't think of everything. Money would of probably been on my mind, well seems like it would of been once i knew the coast guard was on its way.

Speaking of.......I need to get boat insurance ..........after some maintenance I left a hose off at the bottom of the gee of my boat......took it out and it filled with water. Noticed It was sitting low and got on plane to the nearest shore line. Got everything hooked up right and finished the day. Loving my cape horn!!!!! This was after 30 minutes on the water! It took on all the water it could and could still get on plane! Ill always have an unsinkable self bailing boat!

I sure wish we knew why the boat took on water?

We could all learn from there problem.

At the beginning of the video, I heard them talking about cranking the engines and taking off.......wonder why they did not do that. At that point, there was just a little water in the back of the boat.....and probably a lot more under the floor.

Update...... I read "some" of the discussion on the link given. The motors would not start. I did not read anything giving a reason why the boat took on water.

I know that if the batteries in the back of the boat get swamped you can forget about starting the motors.
