Default Any decent bank fishing near Cameron?

I'm going to be at a client's office near the hospital in Cameron Friday . My boss mentioned throwing the gear in the truck and trying a little bank fishing once we wrap up for the day. Any suggestions on where to try? I was thinking of just driving to the jetties, but we will be headed the opposite direction, back to Lafayette, once we are done. Is the jetties to far out the way, or is thre a spot that would probably give us a better shot at catching something? We are coming back on 82, so I thought maybe tring Rutherford beach, Mermentau, or even Joseph Harbor. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Matt you need to change that Avatar... it's disturbing every time you post.. ROFL...

You might try the fishing pier at the Cameron Jetties... there is a boat launch right before that also that you can fish from the rocks around that area.

The jetties are not far at all from where you are talking about. There is a nice pier there and you might catch a big red. I caught one that weighed almost 30 pounds first time I fished the pier. Some of the regulars there said they catch them that size all the time. You can also go out on the rocks at the jetties and try for trout, reds adn flounder.

Is it my hair?

I've been to the jetties before with little luck. I was just wondering if there were any other spots to try I wasn't aware of..... I forgot about the boat launch.

Sometimes fishing right by the Mermentau river bridge can be good for Red's. Or on the west side of the river there is a road going north that takes you to another spot along the river.

I have caught plenty of specks at Joseph harbor on the road side but its usually around August and water is green, haven't been there yet this summer so not sure how the water is like right now.

Go North at the West side of the bridge. Take first black top road to the right and pass thru a gas plant. Keep going until you get to the TA Fawver Rocks. They are big rip rap rocks on the side of the road.

Yep. Mermentau Bridge.
Don't see Rutherfords Beach clear very often.

Thanks for all the advice! We will only have time to fish for a couple of hours, but I'll report back how it goes.
