Yep, got the call around 5 this afternoon. However, according to my source, it is only a small "swath" as they called it and hopefully will not last long.

The federal government expanded the boundaries of the closed fishing area in the Gulf of Mexico today, bringing the ban closer to Texas.
The closed area is now within 30 miles of Texas for the first time since BP's ill-fated Macondo well began fouling the Gulf 83 days ago.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, citing public safety concerns, said the closure comprises 84,101 square miles, about 35 percent of federal waters in the Gulf. The ban stretches from Louisiana to Florida, but does not apply to state waters.
NOAA spokeswoman Kim Amendola said the agency's forecasts do not indicate when -- or if -- the closed area will stretch to waters off the Texas coast.
"That is all dependent upon where the oil moves or is projected to move," she said.

Right now from what I understand it is about 20-25 out from Cameron and east. If you go out more that 25 miles, you are in legal waters. Also it looks like Calcasieu Pass is the line marking the western most region. So anything west of it should be ok. I'll check the GPS later for exact line position.

You can fish from the beach out 3 miles, you then cross the closed portion south of Calcasieu Pass. For the next 18~20 miles it's closed to fishing. Once across the closed area, you can sling slime again. Are you going to go out Sat. the 24th from Cameron?

Friday at midnight (23rd July), Snapper season will close. I hope to see several boats out this weekend, (23rd and 24th) going out of freshwater city the 23rd and Cameron the 24th.
