Suzuki is still having corrosion issues. I just talked to the mechanic yesterday and he said they are still dealing with this corrosion problems on the motors. I had a 40hp Suzuki with less then 300 hours that the head corroded out on.
I can say I love my 2014 Nissan 4 stroke 40hp and would buy another one tomorrow if need be. if you remove the restrictor plate on the throttle body (takes less then a minute to do) it noticeably increases the power and becomes about a 45 hp. if I had to buy it again I think I would buy the 50hp though. I have a 17/52 alweld flatboat and it goes 33-34 mph with the restrictor plate removed and about 31-32 mph with the restrictor plate. I especially like the adjustable idle speeds for when you want to fish by trolling baits, it switches on the fly from 800-1200 in 4 different idle speed settings by just pushing in the key like you would normally use the choke. my two choices would be tohatsu then Yamaha in that order |

Take a look at the Yamaha F70 only 243 lbs and lots of power. Sips fuel as well.
