Default West Fork/Oyster Bayou

I've fished West Fork/Oyster Bayou that runs between the ship channel and West Cove for reds a handful of times and done pretty well but have never caught a speck in there. Has anyone ever caught any specks in there, and if so, what time of year.

I have caught limits of trout at the mouth of West Pass and the channel during the middle of the summer hundreds of times.

Of course this was about 15 years ago.

I still catch a few every once and a while but never like it used to be.

Never caught many specks in there, but probably one of my favorite go to's to catch flounder. We used to murder the flounder in there before the storms. seems like it is finally starting to pick up again....

Hackberry,

Do you catch the flounder by fishing the mouths of the little cuts that dump into West Fork/Oyster Bayou?

JCHIEF,

Do you fish right along that muddy point at the mouth of the ship channel? I saw some guys fishing there the other day.

Slidellkid,

We run back in a little ways and fish along the banks with live mud minnows or soft plastics. Check every small cut that pours into the bayou you should be able to find flounder on the outgoing tide....
