Default duck decoys rigged...

I rigged my duck decoys last night using the "texas rig" technique for the first time ever and really like that method. I used 12 oz mushroom weights and .80 clear weed eater line. Used the mojo crimps too.

I have always been a strap weight guy and sometimes used concrete in styrofoam cups but this was the easiest way ever.

Glad I discoved this method!

You get the mojo crimps at academy? They have plenty left? Running by in the morning for some last minute decoy rigging

Thats the only way to do it. 300-400 lb mono works a lot better though. It is way more tangle resistant and stronger.

Hunt the very south end of about a 300 acre lake in a small unprotected cove. When those northerner's pass through we get 1.5 foot swells on our south end. Pushed my dekes all over the dang place. Used 8 oz cups with concrete last year and the silt covered them up and the dang lines snapped trying to pick up dekes.

i had to do the same thing at another place in gc along the hwy a big pond that faced north and south. When them north winds would come through all my decoys would be pusshed all over the place. Used over 200 decoys that year and killed maybe 25 birds all year worse blind i ever hunted. Needless to say how blessed i am to hunt at the place i hunt now. Easy and kill birds.

I had 10 doz. decoys in my old blind. Cement cup weights were the cheapest.
I have had friends who didn't take the cup off. Next morning white all over the
edges of their ponds. And use stainless steel wire, not fence staples if you want
them to last a long time.

I always took the styrofoam off and used stainless wire. Only problem was that I used cement without rocks and it was not heavy enough IMO. Real problem was 2-3" of silt covered my weights and most broke off the string and stayed on the bottom of the pond.

I have been using the weed eater string and concrete cups for years. I hunt over at least 500 and the year before last I put out 1000. The concrete is the cheapest way to go for big spreads. I have also found that the Avery brand crimps don't hold up and the are expensive. On the Internet I found some heavy duty aluminum ones for about 5 cents a piece. Can't use small crimpin pliers but damn sure worth the extra effort. Should last the like of the decoy.
