It is possible you can get other ducks in your spot. With the abundance of salt water in most marshes alot of the native grasses the ducks typically feed on are dead. Also the lack of water in a lot of areas will help you out as well . Depending on the water depth will dictate the type of birds it may hold as well .Puddle ducks typically prefer shallow water ( 12" or less) where divers will locate in deeper areas. The best thing to do is scout it and give it a shot you never know you may have just found a hot spot .

Don't waste time building, go hunt the grass and let us know it it was.

I won't build till I know its worth it, I have never hunted a place like this and its been yrs since I hunted marsh or rice fields. Is there any thing I should realy look at for the best setup or just chunk decoys and let them sit awhile? What would be some good types to put out or does it matter and should I be in open water or setup in flooded timber? I know am askin a lot but I got to learn somehow.

Go sit out there one morning and see what birds show up and where they go.

I would do exactly what Jude said . It may take a few trips to get it down ,but if it works out it will be worth the effort. Also scout in the afternoon and see where they may be roosting and what types of ducks are using the area. Once you figure out if the birds are there and what areas they frequent then you can decide what to do from there. Depending on the area you may not even need a true built blind ,the natural surroundings may provide all the cover you need. Also without a perm blind you arent tied down to one specific area and you can move with the birds. Hope this helps you out.

If it's off the river and it us holdin a few ducks I would wait on building a permanent blind. It has been my experience that those places get hunted even when you are not there. Sounds like this could be a woodie roost. If it is someone already knows more about it than you. Go on scouting trips ESPECIALLY in the afternoon right before dark. Be prepared to run into poachers on your property even if they don't know that they are trespassing. Hope this isn't the case though.

I don't have to much trouble with people going in that aren't supose to, I have some old guys that run cattle in there so they keep an eye out and if they catch someone they run them off and let me know. The only access is through my land and the ponds are only connected by small drains and unless you have been on the property you would not know the ponds are there.
