Default Anyone here have this surgery ?

My ENT Dr in Lake Charles diagnosed me with deviated nasal septum,th. I will be having the following procedures on 3-31-13 : BTE,BMA,BNAW,BLOF,BSMRT and Septo W/Stealth. Not sure what all these procedures are. Basically, what the Dr told me was that I have a broken nose inside and that my nasal passages are crooked. 2-4 week recovery period. Anyone here had this surgery ? Tips, tricks, would be helpful to know now before I have the surgery.

I would get a second opinion before surgery.

I had the surgery....it sucked, but didn't take that long to get back to work....it wasn't all that bad, but didn't fix the problem that I was trying to fix...snoring. Good luck! And I agree, get at least a second opinion.

I didn't have it, but my brother did. He said he feels like a new man and can finally breath again.

I think I have the same problem as I can only really breathe out of one nostril but I just haven't done anything about it.

I've had basically the same surgery. Its not fun but within about 4 days I was breathing better and the pain was pretty much gone. The biggest issue is trying to let it heal. You have to give it enough time. Its just like a broken bone trying to heal without a cast.

Good luck!

Been there done that, very painful recovery!

I also had a friend have the surgery and it wouldn't heal, so he had to go in a barometric pressure chamber couple hours a day for a couple of weeks.

Good luck. I had it done in 2007. It worked. I can breathe out of my nose but now for some reason I have allergies. I don't know if as a kid I never used my nose or what.

The worst part is when they removed the stints that hold your nose open and straight while it is healing. I swear they were the size of your thumb. Hurt like hell pulling them out. Other than that while you are under it will be the best rest of your life.

I had it performed in combination with turbinate reduction. I'll just say that the results were great while the lasted but my issue with the deviated septum returned again after about 2 years. turbinate reduction was done to reduce headaches and that has been a game changer for me.

My recovery wasn't terrible as they didn't use packing after surgery, but be prepared for some horrific nose bleeds if you mess with it.

I had it done by Dr. Lebert and was very satisfied with the outcome. I had a deviated septum, enlarged turbinates, and narrow sinus passages. Fixed the deviated septum, turbinate reduction, and used Balloon Sinuplasty to fix the narrow sinus cavities. I had a hard time sleeping all the way through the night without constantly waking up and waking up in the morning exhausted. Now I seem to get better sleep and don't snore near as much as I used to.
Recovery took about 4-5 days but full recovery wasn't until about 2 months after (per Dr.).

I didn't have packing either, which is a huge plus. I did have the splints for the deviated septum. The splints were very uncomfortable up until they were pulled off an then there was no more pain. It didn't really hurt to get them removed. They sprayed a numbing mist into nose to numb it and cut sutures and pulled them off.
