Default Thunder chicken down!

Went this morning and waited out the rain. It paid off! Got there before daylight and went to where I heard a bird gobblin last Sunday. Well I was welcomed with a steady rain and thunder. My cousin set out to our ol trusty spot. I made it til about 7:20 and I was getting soaked so I carried it to the truck. My cousin wasn't far behind me. He had other obligations and had to leave but when the rain slacked I headed back out. Sat in the ol trusty spot got set in and made a soft call with no response. So I just leaned back listened to the drizzle fall and relaxed. Gave it about 30 minutes and called with no response. Oh well, I kept a close eye for something trying to sneak in. Couldn't take it. 10 minutes went by and I gave another call to be answered by a bone shakin gobble. He was close, but I couldn't believe my ears. Made another call and he cut me off! I knew he was coming so I shut up. Within the minute I saw a blue head coming into view. I couldn't get a shot through the brush so I just had to wait. Once he saw my decoy he never left full strut. He danced around spittin and drumming and I bout had a coronary watching him. Had to tell myself to settle down. Finally he eased toward my deke and when he presented the shot I tried to cluck at him to come out of strut but all he did was gobble and spit at me. So I spit back with 2-1/4ozs of lead!

12-1/4" beard. Both spurs were broken. And didn't get a weight. But my goodness what a rush! Thank you Lord for this day!

Nice gobbler. He must have been a fighter to break off both spurs.

Nice bird. That's wierd with the two broken spurs. I've killed alot of gobblers but never seen both spurs busted.
