Fish the surf around the passes with a live minnow or jig tipped w/ shrimp and you'll get on em.

I was always told those little quarter sized flounder looking things you catch trawling aren't the same species of flounder you catch to eat, I was told they are a different species that don't get much bigger then what you see and its rare for one to be more then a 2-3 inches when mature.

I never knew enough to argue either way but tghose little sand suckers we called em are great bait alive or dead, throw it out there and its gone in 60 seconds flat lol.

I used to argue that they were baby flounders but they would laugh and say nope. none of those who had an opinion on it knew any facts its just a bunch of fishermen sayin what they knew from old timers teachin em things.

I've caught bass in bayou beniot and they threw up those silver dolor sized flounder creatures in the live well.

I caught a 3 pound flounder at fausse point state park bass fishing a few years ago. Never seen them that far north.
