Default Bank Fishing Near Mermentau River or Calcasieu Area?

Hey guys, thinking of heading South this Saturday or Sunday morning, but won't have a boat. Anyone know if there is a decent area to fish off the shore around the mouth of the Mermentau? I know there's a road that goes down that way.

Or what's the fishing like off the shore on spots just East of the mouth of the Calcasieu River? Has the fresh water from the rains cleared out a bit?

Any suggestions are appreciated, redfish, trout or flounders.

Thanks.

i am not sure how the fishing is right now, but there is places to fish around the mermenta mouth, depending on which way you coming from, if you are coming from the east immediately after you cross the bridge at the mouth there is a road on the right there(of course it will be on the left just before the bridge if you are coming from cameron) is a few spots to fish it right there around some beat up fenced area and under the bridge and up the road you can bank fish, of course thats if it isn't packed tight with people right there

you could prolly wade out of the I10 beach in lake charles and catch some reds around the old Harrahs... maybe even a speck or two. the grassy point under the bridge may produce some fish. not much of a bank fisherman but if i had to try those would be my best bet for that area.

Thanks.

I got a report yesterday of some flounders being caught around the Cameron jetties. Going to try and decide if I'm going to fish Mermentau mouth or Calcasieu mouth. I would try to fish a bit further up North, but with all the rain, afraid the fresh water pushed the fish more to the coast.
