You can just about circumcise a gnat at 30 yds. There are some nice guns listed above already that are bad to the bone right out of the box. You might look into the Archangel too.
That son of a bugger looks bad! Thanks for all the advice guys. I'll be shopping around today and let y'all know what I decide.

I know this is an an older post but just wanted to through my 2 cents in. I was in the same dilemna a while back. And looked at all of them, with the exception of the H&K, never saw that one before. I finally decided to go with a basic ruger 10/22 and added an Promag Archangel stock. It can handle a bull barrel when I finally upgrade to one. Its pretty nice, and you can grab it for about 100 bucks. Replacing the stock on a 10/22 is extremely simple. And as mentioned ealier, the 10/22 has so many extras out there, it will make your head spin.
For the 10/22 stocks:
On the lower end of the price range you have your TAPCO stocks, two different styles with the T6 being better methinks. And the Promags, various styles with the Archangel being the AR type.
Farther up you have the ProMag Marauder which looks like a SCAR-L, complete with a magazine cover.
Then comes the Troy Industries TRX Extreme. A nice looking AR type stock with full length top rail, but its pricey.
Finally the Nodic components kit. It turns your 10/22 into a .22 caliber AR-15 able to handle any AR-15 pistol grip, stock and forearm.

The Ruger SR-22 AR type rifle is basically a 10/22 in a fancy stock and is less than 500. It will accept 10/22 upgrades, including Volquartsen and Timney triggers.

Here's my 10/22 on the Archangel - dubbed Diller Killer. (poor picture - my apologies)

Hope this helps if you havent gotten you one already.

Thats a BSA30. 30mm red dot. It has eleven brightness settings which is great. Can get it on Amazon for around 40 dollars, but I wouldnt recommend it to anyone. The tick marker fell out of the windage adjustment the first time I sighted it in. And after about 50 rounds the top of the on/off brightness dial, which holds the battery in, popped off. Luckily it land on the shooting table and I wasn't popping armadillos at the time. Got it tightened pretty good now, just have to be careful not to loosen it when I turn it on or off.

UTG makes one, UTG RGB, where you can select either red, green or blue dot. With 3 powers for each. Can get it at Amazon for about 30 bucks I think. Not sure how good it is.

The mag is a 30 round Shooters Ridge. Its junk. If your lucky one or two rounds will feed. Hold it upside down and they fall out. I trashed it and bought the 25 round one made by Ruger. Its longer and very nearly touches the front fore grip. The light is a Walther. It will light the tree line 100 yards from my front porch and I have shot critters out to 35 steps using it. Very nice light for 25 dollars.
