Default Grouper out of Cameron?

I've Benny fishing out of Cameron for quite a while now and I have no problem catching red snapper, mangroves, ling and when the rips are good 3 tail and dolphin. And i havent been able to catch any grouper not even small ones. I am wondering if any one fishes for them in the Cameron area? And if so how far out/how deep? And what kind of structure are y'all fishing, rigs or wrecks?I have a 27 contender and am capable of making some long runs. Just wanting to have more variety when snapper season is closed. Any info would be appreciated

we go but don't catch them good until we get into about 450 feet. you can catch them in shallower water but its a pain fighting the aj's and red snapper

Rigs are good for grouper. As well as rocks and submerged structure. As noodle said usually have to be pretty deep. I have caught lots of grouper on candy mountain.

We launch at freshwater city. It's roughly 80 miles out of there.
