I'd put in at Don's, so many more & better options on where to go from there.

Why dons? You have an 8 mile run just to get to the bay. Then if you want to fiSh the cove that's even further. Launch at the state park and you're in the middle of it all. If fishing weeks bay you can launch at the launch at patout bayou just past Lydia.

Ill be there too. pick up some redfish magic spinnerbaits, chartreuse. fish around the cuts off of shark bayou and weeks bay. The reds cruse the bank so make sure your bat hits the bank at the water line. keep your bait in the water and you will eventually connect, Fan cast the holes, if you have a depthfinder for specs, if you feel some taps, its probably specs, start throwing plastics till you find the one they want. Also shrimp under a cork or on the bottom. Good luck!

Thank y'all for the advise!!! I put in at the state park and ran to weeks bay... The redfish spinnerbaits did the trick... Only got one keeper red an about a 12lb black drum but over all had a great day..... Think I'm going to have to change over to the salt side more often!!

all I did was fish fresh water until I hooked into my first red, it converted me. Specks are fun to catch, not to mention eat! but nothing compared to the fight of a red!

Good deal man, I was there today and didnt get a red over 12". I usually start in weeks bay and make my way around the island trying different spots. Decided to reverse the strategy this morning, and, well, it sucked...
