Go to a pool supply store and ask the service person about a neutralizer. It may help clearing up the lime. Nice pond! The boys will never forget those days! Love to see them holding a fish instead of a Wii or xbox controller.

find you a job site that has pieces of leftover sheet rock.
Worked like charm on mine.
some folks say cotton seed meal too.

nice bass simple peddler.... we just dug a "hole" behind the house with a backhoe and a dozer. Its about 3' deep and in a swamp hardwood bottom. It was dried up this past winter, but after this last rain, damn water is right up to the edge of the "pond"..... I heard the same thing about sheetrock clearing up the water. My question to you is.... DO you put throw the sheetrock in the middle of the pond, or place it on the bank barely in the water ?

There are no fish in this pond yet, but its about 100' from the creek..... Going to set out a few hoop nets and gonna put catfish and bream in it.

i have heard that about sheet rock... just didnt want sheet rock at the bottom after it clears up. pond is 20' deep with levels all the way up to 1'. Someone told me 6 bags of lime should do the trick. dont know how accurate that is. thanks for the advice.

Yes just throw the sheetrock in.
if it's 20 feet deep you should not see it, in fact you do not want your pond much clearer than 18 inch of visibility.
Lime does work, but it also adds a considerable amount of "fertilizer" and can cause a blume (sp) that you do not want.

fish will only use 4-6 feet of the pond, surface area is much more important than depth.

You can have about 100 pounds of bass per surface acre of pond..........so that's 10 10 pounders of 100 1 pounders..........you get the idea.

Jordan, make sure you establish the food chain before you add the bass, trust me on this............10 bass can eat a pond out a new stock of bream pretty quick.

In order to keep up with this, once you have 100 pounds of bass/acre, how many pounds/acre should you take out each year?
