When males are young they have the barest hint of red on their throats.

When they are older they have bright red throats sing to let the ladies know they are ready to rock.

Had 1 or 2 hummers today...............

Then at 7 PM, 6 hummers swarmed the feeder until it got dark.
Feeder was getting low, so I filled it after dark.

I mix 1 pint of sugar with 4 pints of hot tap water in a gallon jug and shake it up good. The sugar dissolves, and I keep it in the house for quick refills. I learned though to squiggle all over the jug with a marks alot if ya gonna leave it in the house. It surprised Peg one night when on the way back from the bathroom on a middle of the night potty run she decided to stop by the kitchen and just get a swallow from the water jug.

Default Humming Bird Turds

They land on the hanger that hold the feeder and crap on the top.. Wouldn't you think they'd crap sugar cubes with all the sugar water they drink?!?
