Default 13" rat red found in 25" speck's belly!

My buddy Tal over at Sabine just sent this picture to me.

Tal and his buddy Scott Caldwell hit the lake last weekend and they said the bite was hot. They smoked some solid specks on topwaters, TTF red killers and BIG MINOs.

Scott was throwing a Super Spook when this solid fish sucked it under. When he put the hooks in her she didn't go to thrashing like you'd expect. She just kind of came up to the surface and Scott skied her in. When he landed the fish she looked like she'd eaten a football.

Check out what they found in her belly - a 13" rat red (you can see the dot on the tail in the picture)! I'm no math expert, but even I can figure out that this red was over half the size of the trout that ate it. Pretty amazing. And what's even more crazy is that this hog still tried to choke down a Super Spook!

That's crazy. I saw a picture in the Sportsman like 8 years ago of a red that had eaten a foot long snake.

Here's a better pic for y'all.

I think next time I hook a rat I'll let him swim around out there for a while.
