Food Plot
My Brothers who are avid deer hunters use Soy Bean Seeds for their food plots. They say it works good, I guess they're right they both killed multiple deer last year.

I used to work at a feed mill where we sold Tecamate. I was always impressed with the amount of clover in the blend and the percentage of germination of the seed.

I wondered about that stuff, I have read alot of comments on it and everyone seemed to be really impressed with it. I did not know anyone that used it so I was skeptical..

i read a lot about it while i worked there so i could sell it. i compared it to lesser brands we sold and it seemed to hold up very well compared to them. the broad leaf vegetation that is in the blend seems to really attract the deer.

Some of my most fond moments as a kid and even now are hunting with my dad. It is one of the few things that keep us together. I know your kids are just as excited to share the experience of hunting with you as you are with them. Those memories last forever and I am sure they will pass that along to their kids.

We've used the soy beans and rye grass in the past. This year we're gonna try some winter wheat. May have to try some of that Tecamate.

Past several years have mixed Iron clay (cow) peas, winter wheat & winter oats. Have seen plenty of deer in it. Have some guys with us that plant just rye grass & have done well with that. Who knows??????
Has anyone else noticed the price on fertilizer? HOLY ****!!!!!! 13-13-13 is on the avg of about $17-$18 a sack! Cheapest I've found has been $11.95. |

we use rye grass, soy beans, and turnips. Love using turnips b/c the deer wipe them out.

Sometimes when the wheat gets too high, the deer don't like it as much as when it is short and tender. I have noticed that.

13-13-13 was $ 19.99 @ Lowe's a few months ago.....they were the only place that had it.
Saw some at Tractor Supply [Moss Bluff] last week for $ 17.50 (?). |

The $11.95 for 13-13-13 was at Co-op in Slaughter north of Baton Rouge. You West side boys may want to check Co-op in yalls area.
Ray, when hunting season is over & some of the vegatation starts coming back & my food plots arent being used anymore, I have some of the prettiest wheat fields around. You're right about the wheat. They won't hardly fool with it once it starts to mature. But they keep clipped to the ground during the season. |
