Default Big Lake

Big Lake in a 18x48 w/ a prodrive....Is this a good idea or should I stick to my normal water that I am comfortable going in?. Just looking for a change in scenery to latch on to some pumpkin fish lol Thanks for any advice

there are some shallow marshy areas icant get in with bay boat, but your boat may be able to get into and find some reds. haymark area, a couple marshes off bayous up around 210, maybe some west cove places via launch down tehre off 27, depending on legality of state owned lands and motor resrictions

We fish it in an Alumacraft V16 with 20hp. We don't often run to the weirs, too risky if wind pops up. But have a plan for wind contingencies and launch close to where you intend to fish that day, and you will be fine.

Did the same in the 1970s with my dad driving a 16x48 with a 20 hp Merc. Always stayed in or near protected water. This time of year, you can do a lot of good in Turner bay.
