Anyone regret going from the classis handle Tm to the "ipilot" type? I'd imagine there's a little transition time to get use to controlling the Tm with a remote, vs. using a handle. Anyway, lots of good comments, and sounds like some folks learned a thing or two ... "double click the anchor button", for immediate "anchoring". Thanks to all who contributed.

I just made the upgrade from a 74lb Riptide tiller handle to the 80 Ipilot. Love it so far.

Does anyone use the Ipilot much in places like Henderson or fresh water where you are beating the banks? I fish 50/50 fresh and salt and am curious how hard it is to get used to.

I do. It isn't ideal for that. I want a foot pedal for that

Have you tried the foot pedal that you can buy for the Ipiolt?
Thanks. Josh |

the best to use is the compass setting, not the gps because of the current and wind. set it on a slow steady speed and let it go, make small course adjustments as necessary. if the current and wind isnt too bad i will use the gps. |

I've spot locked on rig legs offshore several times.....as long as the seas aren't pullint the prop outt the water, it'll hold my boat where I told it to hold. regargless of the wind or current.

Yes mine is mounted with the front two mounting holes over the bow. However, after I thru-bolted the remaining mounting holes everything is kosher. The anchor lock is not perfect but it's closer to perfect than my wife and the ipilot is a lot cheaper. I would not consider buying another TM without the anchor lock.

I called MK and was told that the self deploy model is only available on freshwater model.

Anybody use the ipilot link? From what I've read you gotta use humminbird GPS... Just wondering if it's worth switching from Lowrance to be able to use it...

from what i gathered. your paying 800 for a hand held gps that can control the main unit. .
I would spend that 800 on something else. |

Wow... didn't realize it was so much... went and looked around and I don't think I want to be trying to fool with a remote that complicated while im trying to fish. Thanks alpha

I read a "press release" in the News section on MK site announcing a new model to be released this fall...Riptide Ulterra..it features electric deploy/stow. My concern with the electric deploy is the unsupported upper shaft/head in the stow position; I would think that there would be excessive whipping of the mass of the head in chop at speed. May not be a concern but I don't think I want to be a "Beta tester"....maybe next year.
