Default Gel Coat or Enamel

Gonna redo the deck on my boat this winter and I wanna do it myself and can't decide whether to go back with gel coat or an enamel. I know gel coat is probably the best route but just want some more input because going with the enamel will be cheaper and read and talked to people that have used it that it holds up just as good but worried about it getting brittle from the sun overtime. What y'all think?
