A quick update for everyone. Wyatt passed his swallow study with flying colors so now it's just a matter of him getting the hang of taking a bottle. The lung doctor did want to do additional tests on Wyatt to see if his oxygen needs were being met. At this point we could take Wyatt home on oxygen but we need him to be taking a bottle 8 times a day. Weight wise Wyatt is still doing great and as of last night he was 6 pounds 4 ounces.

Wyatt did really well today bottle feeding. He took 16 cc's today which is a new record by about 10 cc's! Wyatt is tipping the scales tonight at 6 pounds and 7 ounces. The boy is growing like a weed.

Just got a call from the doctor. Wyatt had a setback this morning and has been struggling to breath. They had to turn up his support to a high-flow. They are doing chest x-rays and a CBC to see if he has an infection. Keep the little guy in your thoughts today and let's hope this is just a momentary setback. I haven't felt like this for a month or more. I remember now, I don't like it.

Okay, the doctors have now increased Wyatt's breathing support to 3 liters on Vapotherm. This is quite a setback because he hasn't been on that type of support since last year. The doctors are running tests still to see what could be causing this problem. At this point, it could be that Wyatt was just not ready for the lowest form of support and it just took him a few weeks after the steroids wore off for him to show the affects. It could also be that Wyatt has a viral infection or is suffering some aspiration during his bottle feeds. Either way, we need some good old fashion faith and my little man needs to be a fighter.

I realize that my updates are getting further apart and for that I apologize. Wyatt has made some serious strides since the last update. As of yesterday he was 6 pounds 12 ounces. He has been lowered back down to the lung support he was on before he had his setback and was bottle fed for the first time since his setback. The bottle feeding went exceptionally well as Wyatt was able to take down 47 cc's in one sitting. This is awesome because that is the amount he was being fed at one sitting anyway. If this continues we could really be getting our little man home sooner than later! Only time will tell so we will have to wait and see.
