Default One More Time, Opinions on Hydrofoils/planer boards

i know i've asked already, but Lets do one more for finality purposes. What is everyone's opinions on hydrofoils? My problem is this. I have a small 18.5 foot center console v-hull. She holds 62 gallons gas, and has a 175 on the back. She stern heavy fosho, and i think, she takes a while to get on plane. In doing so, she has serious bow lift. Trimming too early won't do nothing, making S turns while from a hole shot helps getting the nose down to trim out, but do yall think hydrofoils will help get me on plane quicker? i don't mind losing top end, im never WOT anyways, just trying be as economical as possible. thanks

need some personal experiences before i plop down the 150-250 . yows

the batteries are also located in the bilge, when i have time, im plannning to reroute to inside the console, still i don't think just this will solve it..

if you agree, what brands?

sounds like your motor inst tucked all the way in. to have to turn side to side to get on top something isnt right and dont think a hydrofoil woudl help. id start by looking at the mounting bracket and see if you can adjust it to let the motor trim down further. if its not adjustable id look into transom wedges. they will shim the top further out letting your motor tuck in further. they are only like 30bucks i believe and should fix your problem.

If you have a jack plate and the bow lift is killing you on take off and stop, get a plate made to bolt or weld onto the bottom of the jackplate. This will increase surface area and decrease the bow lift from take off and stop. I'm not sure if it will ride out of the water. I'll try and find a pic or two from the internet.

trim tabs would be the ideal fix. not too familiar on how to use em though. the boat doesnt have a jack plate, jack plate would be, i think, more weight added to the stern. would a 4 blade prop help any?

What year, make, and model boat ???

Same for motor and what pitch prop and material...

My first bay boat was a 18' Pro Craft w/a 90 Mariner and it was a great performer...

Something is out of whack here...

Thanks,
Hydro

18.5 striper center console with 175 evinrude ficht
holds 62 gals. two batteries in bilge. stainless 3 blade viper s/s factory came with motor. Not sure how to to measure pitch.

or maybe i just need to add more throttle.

she only drafts 14inches...but while trying to get on plane, im willing to bet the motor drops down alot lower than that.

Wow, that thing ought to get with the program @wot...

If your sure there is no trapped water in the hull, I would go to your local West Marine and buy a set of Smart Tabs and give them a whirl... I just put a set on a marsh rig and they work really well and were easy to install...

I am assuming you just purchased the boat, what is your current top speed ???

Ya got her not too long ago.

Just got back into school so money is tight. Boat doesn't have the problem too much when NOT full with gas.our gas meter is out so we just fill up every time we come in.( for ethanol purpose also

Longest I ever held her at wot was only for a few seconds. I've gotten her up to 42 not Wot on chartplotter gps.

But I normally only keep her below 3500 rpm

Go talk to Baggy at Baggy's Propeller Shop. You may need a lower pitched prop or maybe even a double cup!

since it doesn't have a jack plate, I'd go with trim tabs like someone suggested.
