Default Fresh mullet and/or pogey bait

Does anyone know where I can get my hands on some mullet and/or pogey to use for bait. I couldn't get out this weekend and I'm not going to have time before next weekend to go throw cast net. I'm in Lafayette and I'd like something close if possible. Thanks for any info you have.

I would be interested in any sources for 8"-12" size mullet for cut bait in the Kenner/New Orleans area as well.

I know terry's in leeville has em but I find its very hard to find fresh mullet for cut bait anywhere around this area and using shrimp for bait for redfish gets expensive

If you headed to pecan island I know Maw and Paws in forked island sold frozen mullet in the past. Not sure if they still do.. Good luck.

Duffeys or Gaudets in Pierre Part.
Johnnys Seafood in Berwick
50lb box $26 larger pogies
100lb box $25 smaller pogies.
If you buy from a bait shop you will pay 5 times as much.

I've bought a couple bags of frozen pogies at Academy. Does anyone know how they defrosted and if it was good bait?

I have not baught any mullet or pogies in a while simply due to the ease of catching all I need to the east of Barataria pass, at GI. Not sure if this is an option for you, but the schools have been very thick along the southern portion of Barataria.

Good luck

never heard of using pogies for anything but live ones for specks and dead ones for crab or crawfish bait, are pogies good cut bait for redfish?

by the way I went to terry's today in leeville and he has a freezer full of mullet. bag of 6 was $4 and they average around 6-8" long (so .65 cents each basicly)

ok, Im used to any chunk of meat in the water working offshore, heck we used to use can tabs tied to a hook to catch bluefish all the time, but i never thought of using pogies for marsh fishing.

I tried using cut up chunks of white trout for bait once in golden meadow but nothing wanted it, not even the crabs lol
