Default 2014 Chevy misfire issues

Bought a 2014 Silverado last saturday and tonight I had the check engine light start flashing after leaving the scene of my Godmother's car wreck and escorting the wrecker to her house. I always keep my code reader in the truck and it showed cylinder 6 was misfiring. It's got the 5.3 V8 with active fuel management but have no idea what could be the cause. It's starting to shift rough up and down when going and stopping. And don't start this shoulda bought a ford or dodge BS. Anyone have this issue in these trucks? Gonna take it in to the stealership tomorrow morning and see what they got to say about it.

I had a 2002 Dodge throw the same code, misfire #6 cylinder. Pulled the spark plug and it was wet. Hopefully not your issue but do you have a slow coolant leak?

Not that I'm aware of. It just got dropped off at the dealership. Could be the injector for that cylinder or could be the coil for that cylinder as well. Thank God it's still under warranty.

I had a 2014 that had 6000 miles on it do the same. They first replaced the spark plug wires then 4 injectors then the computer module. The latter worked. Never had another issue

Same for me. I had a 2000 model GMC that started acting up 2 weeks after i bought it new. Replaced 2 injectors, then started up again and they replace 2 more injectors. then all was good after that. Pizzed me off though!

I have a 2014 5.3 as well. I have had this issue happen 3 times. Every time i bring it to the dealership they tell me its the same problem. They replace the cap for the cylinder that is misfiring. Its under warranty, but I know there is an underlying issue that they are not resolving hoping to just get it through the warranty. The truck has less than 20k miles. Luckily I have a trusty tacoma as a work truck. I have been a chevy guy all of my life, but I am disappointed and will most likely trade it soon.

I have a 2014 that has had this problem since new. Random misfires and rough idle. Sometimes after traveling at highway speed and then exiting the interstate it will stumble and nearly die. 3 dealers have checked it and cannot find anything wrong. Go figure !!! The direct injection pump on mine makes the ticking noise 3 times louder than any other 14/15 I have listened to. Asked the dealers to change the pump and I get the same response : No check engine light equals no problem and GM will not let us change it no matter how loud it is. Been a GM customer since 1988 and I think this is my last chevy. The old "Its Normal" and "working as designed" excuses just don't cut it with me. The silenced/muted text notification issue with the 14 models Bluetooth is annoying as %$#@ too !!!

You have never had a check engine light come on? Or you stabilitrax kick out due to the emission problems the misfires cause?

Check engine light come on? Don't take this the wrong way, but you sound like a Chevrolet service advisor. It's ashamed but the dealers cant do much if anything at all without a check engine light illuminated. Not once has my light come on. Actually had the engine die on me twice at a stoplight. Turn the key off and then restart and it runs fine. I am convinced the issue with my truck is the high pressure fuel pump on the engine. When I say mine is 3 times louder than any other I really mean it. I have had people ask me if my truck is a diesel in a half ton. The ticking of my pump sounds like a kid beating an empty pie plate with a metal fork. All 3 dealers say its one of the loudest pumps they have heard but GM will not allow them to change it. There is no spec for noise so its "working as designed" !!!!

I have a 2006 GMC with the 5.3... Just recently (2 days in a row) I had the engine go into "REDUCED ENGINE POWER" mode and leave me on the side of the road. I shut it down and start it back up and it runs fine. All of my gauges and levels are fine. Not sure what is wrong with it... might have to bring it in to get it checked out.

I wasn't asking in that type of manner. I was just curious to know if the light ever came on because my truck would run ****ty for 2 days off and on before the service light came on. Once the service light came on then the stabilitrax would disengage and thats when it started shifting abnormal and so on. Another reason i was curious is to see how similar these issues are. I bought my 14 as soon as they came out and am curious if its a problem with some of the first launched trucks. Several people I know have 15 and 16 models and havent had any issues.

Dealerships will fix it, and a few more things. Find the wet spark plug via computer reader/code reader (done for free at Auto-zone). Replace spark plug-s, wire and coil-s. Regaining "full" power may help your shifting problems.

My truck is indeed an early 14. Build date is 8/13. I am certain my high pressure fuel pump on the engine or the ecm is my problem. As i said, my fuel pump clatters way louder than any other i have heard. I am suspicious that the early 14s have a known problem and in typical GM fashion they find it cheaper to lose a few customers tather than fix the problem. Good luck with yours. I gave up fighting with them.

I couldn't agree more. I notice my pump is loud too. I believe there is an underlying issue that they will not resolve hoping the warranty will run out. Did you get rid of your truck or you just dealing with the issue ? I'm thinking heavily of trading mine.

Still have the truck. Frustrated beyond words with it. Especially when they say nothing is wrong yet it continues to stumble and misfire randomly. I have gone a few months without any issues then suddenly it does it. If I could get rid of it without taking a big hit on it I would. My last truck was a 2009 and I traded it at 164,000 miles. Only problem I ever had with it was a door handle that broke. This 2014 has been a pain in the @#$ !!! Wish I still had the 09.
