Default Grand Isle

Hey guys, I am planning a vacation with the wife and we are thinking about going to Grand Isle 1st week of October. I would appreciate any advice on camp rentals , accomodations, etc. Also, any advice on what I could expect or target in the fishing department. From what I have read so far it seems that the surf fishing for specs will be over but reds could be on. Probably have to go back in the bays and marsh for specs? I fished there at night over 20 years ago and have not been back since. Thanks for any feedback.

All depends on the weather. late summer you will catch trout on the reefs behind the island and a few still in the surf. early cool snaps and you go farther north . get back w/ me the week before you go and i'll make some calls.
accomidations all depend on how much you want to spend. you can get a decent room w/ kitchen and queen bed for 100 / night . getting into the slow season so you may can get a good deal on a weekly rental on a camp.
I'll try to remember to get you some phone numbers tomorrow for some of the agencus that rent camps.

A girl I went to school with, her parents have a camp they rent out. We went there for the last day of high school and it was right on the beach on the south and so much fun. We did little fishing, but it was fun. I'll see if they still rent it out tomorrow when I see Annie.

went a few weeks ago and fished the north side of the island. I dont have a bay boat just a gator tail so i had to stay close to bridgeside. theres a ship and barge sunk on the north side of the island next to a piece of marsh. did well right there casting to the ship with gulp shrimp. no huge specks but did manage to pull about 10 and a limit of reds

Depending on your budget, there are a lot of private beach homes for rent and the prices are fairly reasonable. We searched these two sites when I was planning my trip:

If you're interested in offshore fishing, it is excellent...we had a great experience with Capt Lance Walker: http://www.fishcommander.com/
