Default Windy day on Big Lake!!

Had to work hard for them this time which made me appreciate my last 3-4 trips even more. Fish under the birds didn't even bite that good. Managed to pull a few out though even with 15-20 steady winds but did not limit this time. Could have and left with birds still working but I was beat and had enough fun for one day. Hopefully find them sooner tomorrow. Good luck everyone and tight lines!!!

Great trip considering the conditions. It was miserable. My wife lasted 2 hours and had enough. 4 reds and 4 trout.

It was tough working trolling motor on birds in that wind so I tried just working trolling motor while my buddy fished out the back. I have never fished under birds like that where they wouldn't bite. So I decided to keep working and fishing so we both had lines in water and we threw everything at them and just a regular chartreuse cacohoe seemed best. But we had to make 5-6 cast to get a fish and half the time no bite. Had small trout, 18-20" trout, rat reds, and 20" plus reds all mixed in chasing little bitty white shrimp. Croakers were in there and loved the green gulp swimming mullet lol. But before we found those birds we only had two keepers. Second time this year I didn't find fish til after noon.

We had the same issue Sunday. We always use artificial and have had no trouble. However Sunday the only ones consistently catching were using live shrimp / popping cork. Kinda blew my mind as we generally don't have any trouble.
