lost lease

went ride with my brother and son today to check out lease, getting the fever! We stop by to talk to landowner on our way out. This would be the 4th year we lease this spot. The landowner comes out and tells us he's leased our blind for more money!! Its getting to where a family can't find and hold onto a lease these days. With all the Johnny come lately 'guide' services leasing up everything. Needless to say, we were upset. The landowner is an older gentleman, so I showed him respect. My only response was 'well, I guess you can really tell a man by how he keeps his word, thanks for letting me find that out about you'.
So we begin the search tomorrow for a new lease. We've always hunted around the Kaplan, Klondike, Gueydan area. If anyone knows of anyone leasing in this area, please leave a post!

yeah, a call would have been nice. After talking to other folks who know him, they weren't surprised what he did, they said he's done it before. It's a sad state when a person thinks the almighty dollar is more important than their word. Thanks for the good wishes guys.

I've seen ppl like this. Screw me once shame on you , screw me twice shame on me. I'm a very Christian individual and forgive them but they don't get a second chance anymore. I'm sure this is how he treats ppl daily. I believe you treat ppl the way you want to be treated. Next!!!

Sorry to hear that. The day is coming when they are going to do the same with my lease. He goes up evey year. Eventually, I am not going to pay it. Guy I rent my camp from has even been going up every year as well. They know they can get it. But that is pretty "low" of him to not even give you the opportunity to match offer from other guy. Sounds like it was one of his buddies or family members that he let take it from you.

amen to that! He leased it to some guys from New Orleans of all places. Some half assed hunter pretenders! Kerney Saltzman is the land owner, beware any lease he offers. He doesn't farm, leases it to another farmer to plant this year. The last two years he had to hire someone to plow it to knock down the 15 foot tall indigo all over the field. Last year we had to go stop up the cuts so he could flood it! Lots of luck to him getting those city boys to go do that! Still looking for lease for upcoming year. Please keep your ears open and let me know if you guy hear of anything. Thanks !!!

That's why I quit foolin with leases. Last one I had I went a busted it to build a blind and boat hide and 2 weeks before the season someone lit the grass on fire burnt up all of our blinds. People are chickens**t these days.
